FontLab Pad 2.1: free typesetting app that lets you use every font and every glyph
FontLab Pad 2.1 adds OpenType feature controls and other improvements. And it’s still free for Mac and Windows!
Your font has more to offer than the letters you first see. FontLab Pad 2.1 makes those choices easier to reach, with OpenType feature controls, more precise sizing, and a few small improvements that save you clicks. And it’s still free.
See what your font can do¶
Want to try a stylistic set or switch off a ligature? You can now turn OpenType features on and off with the new feature list in the sidebar. Stylistic sets and character variants show the names supplied by the font — hover to see the feature tag.
For a particular swash or alternate, choose Edit > Insert Glyph…, or press /. Select some text first and the command becomes Replace Glyph…, ready to swap in the glyph you wanted.
Give your words exactly the space they need¶
Type a font size directly, from 8 to 1000 pt, or choose a preset. Prefer the slider? It now gives you finer control at small sizes while still getting you to headline sizes quickly.
Fonts you open from your installed collection now appear in Recent Fonts, too. And when you make the window smaller, the sidebar’s feature and instance lists resize and scroll to fit.
A little less friction¶
Fonts that preview correctly no longer interrupt you with irrelevant missing-glyph or glyph-name warnings, including warnings about color-font layers. We’ve also fixed selection and cursor positioning at the start of text that begins with control characters such as a tab.
