FontLab VI: 12 releases in 12 months
FontLab VI 6.1.2 shipped today. That made twelve updates in twelve months after the first public version of our new font editor.

FontLab VI 6.1.2: printing, Echo Text and the Tables panel
FontLab VI 6.1.2 adds printing, synchronized text across windows, a Tables panel for custom OpenType tables, and a faster Classes panel.
DTL OTMaster 7.9 available now
DTL OTMaster 7.9 adds support for variable OpenType fonts. This includes the fvar, gvar, CFF2, STAT, HVAR, and MVAR tables. It includes a new Proofing Tool for printing and exporting PDF specimens, and a Side-by-Side Viewer that shows variation instances.
Available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. A full license is US$228. Upgrades from previous versions are US$57.
Font filters, components and glyph metrics in FontLab VI 6.1
FontLab VI 6.1 adds three things type designers had been asking for: real, standards-compliant components, a Font window sidebar that filters glyphs by script and category, and metrics expressions that link spacing across glyphs, layers and masters.

Free FontLab VI workshops at ATypI Antwerp
In September 2018, FontLab ran three free FontLab VI workshops at the ATypI Antwerp conference — two introductory sessions in the morning and an advanced one in the afternoon.
FontLab VI 6.0.9 update
FontLab VI 6.0.9, together with the previous 6.0.8 update, brought a batch of editing and export improvements. Both were free updates.
